Our Mission

Our club's mission is to promote accessible STEM education in Central Virginia, provide student-centered learning opportunities in engineering and design, and develop the teamwork, organization, and leadership skills of the next generation. We are centered around the First Tech Challenge (read more about it here: https://www.firstinspires.org/robotics/ftc); however, we also use our platform to promote STEM education at community events, and connect with experts in our fields to learn more about career skills and real-world applications of the robotics that we are so passionate about!

This year, WAHS Robotics revived our old tradition of visiting JMRL’s Crozet Library. We worked with the Children’s Department there to give local kids hands-on lessons, using the MarcusBot and our Sphero collection to raise awareness of our club and show a little insight into our engineering process.

We also visited Crozet Elementary as part of Western’s schoolwide community service day WAHS With a Cause. There, we taught second graders about coding, engineering, and (of course) gracious professionalism. We’re always thrilled to connect with our community and it’s a ton of fun working with the elementary schoolers!
